SUMMARY:Telling the Story of Self\, Us and Now
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we can use to grow our movements. Based on the Public Narrative concept created by Marshall Ganz\, this training will help you motivate others to join you in action by communicating your values\, goals and actions through a framework of self\, us\, and now. While it will focus on transit advocacy\, it is applicable to all organizing endeavors. \nThis training is open to the public and free for San Francisco Transit Riders’ members. If you are not a member or need to renew your membership\, select ‘become a member’ below. \n

SUMMARY:Transit Priority Lanes Public Hearing (1 California\, 28 19th Ave)
DESCRIPTION:On April 20th\, the SFMTA Board of Directors is voting on two Temporary Emergency Transit Lanes projects. \n\nTemporary high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes on Park Presidio and Lombard along the 28 route. This is an innovative partnership with Caltrans to provide transit priority on our city streets that also happen to be state highways. The current proposal allows private vehicles with two or more occupants to use these lanes\, which will likely help but doesn’t go far enough. Given that will allow ride hails (which cause much of our traffic) to use them\, we are asking for a minimum of 3 occupants in private vehicles.\nTemporary Emergency Transit Lanes on the 1 California. Based on community outreach\, these lanes have been adjusted in terms of what hours they’re enforced. We think this is an important start but want to see a fuller project as downtown traffic returns.\n\nWe need your support for these transit priority projects! \nSign up below so we can coordinate with full instructions\, talking points\, and timing. The meeting begins at 1:00pm. We don’t know what time these items will come up\, but will be watching and can let you know. \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n Can’t make the meeting? Send your comments to TellMuni@SFMTA.com and cc: zack@sftransitriders.org.

SUMMARY:Members’ Regional Working Group
DESCRIPTION:Help define San Francisco Transit Riders’ regional agenda. The goal of this group is to raise the voice of riders in San Francisco at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission: How can we allocate regional funds to best serve riders? What are our priorities around regional fare and service integration? How do we address uneven ridership and representation across the region?

SUMMARY:Members' Local Funding Working Group
DESCRIPTION:By 2025 SFMTA will be almost half a billion dollars in debt. Over 40 lines have been indefinitely suspended and there is no budget to bring them back. It looks increasingly likely that San Francisco will move forward with a major transportation funding measure in 2022. This working group will be examining potential funding sources and building the political will to win at the ballot.
